ROTC commissioning Dec. 18 at the Baptist Collegiate Ministry Building

Northwestern State University’s Department of Military Science will commission three U.S. Army ROTC Cadets in a ceremony beginning at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 18, at the Baptist Collegiate Ministry on the NSU campus.

Cadets will be commissioned as Second Lieutenants in conjunction with their graduation from NSU.  The cadets and their degrees are Alejandro M. Cespedes of Fort Polk, Bachelor of General Studies with a concentration in social science with minors in history, military science, and Spanish; Bianca M. Covington of Leesville, Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in biomedical, and Coleman D. Hearne of Natchitoches, Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice.

Guest speaker for the commissioning ceremony will be Colonel Brian P. Sullivan, Chief of Staff of the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) and Fort Polk.  Sullivan is a Global War on Terrorism combat veteran and a graduate of the United States Military Academy and holds a master’s degree from Webster University.  Sullivan is slated to take command of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), in June 2016.
