A Natchitoches man facing drug and weapons charges apparently decided to take off instead of taking a plea deal at the Natchitoches Parish Courthouse this morning.
Authorities are searching for Kenneth Dewayne Hardy Jr., 26, after he allegedly escaped from guards about 8:15 a.m
He was supposed to appear in court on drug, firearm and obstruction of justice charges
Hardy is a black male, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds.
He was last seen near Fourth Street in Natchitoches. He was wearing khaki and a white T-shirt after taking off his orange inmate jumpsuit, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones.
At the time of his escape, Hardy was not armed, but authorities say people should use extreme caution if they see him.
Deputies are asking people to call 911 or contact the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-352-6432 or the Natchitoches Police Department at 318-352-6432 or a local law enforcement agency if they see Hardy.
