PARISH OF NATCHITOCHES
OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
200 CHURCH STREET
NATCHITOCHES, LOUISIANA 71457
The Parish has received notice from GOHSEP that the Presidential Disaster Declaration in connection with floods has been amended to include Natchitoches Parish and 15 additional parishes. The initial declaration covered 7 parishes, but was revised after Governor Edwards amended his declaration to increase the number of parishes to be covered.
Within the next day or two, the Parish will be visited by FEMA personnel who will inspect the flood conditions and damages in the field and visit with a number of local citizens. Their assessment of the damages will be a major factor in determining the type and extent of disaster relief available to the Parish and individual citizens.
It is very important that all persons who experienced any type of flood damage to their property to report the damages immediately. The damage reports can be made by calling 318-238-7720 or 318-357-2204, or by emailing damage information to oep@npsheriff.net. In addition, the Parish OEP requests that flood victims also register online by going to http://www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362. Registration is the first step for citizens to be deemed eligible for individual assistance.
FEMA has established monetary thresholds which must be met in order for individuals and the Parish to qualify for assistance. Therefore, it is critical that all individual and public damages be reported fully and accurately. The Parish needs the assistance of the public in gathering the required information as soon as possible. Citizen cooperation will benefit both individuals and the Parish.
If there are any questions, please contact the Office of Emergency Planning at 318-238-7720, or the Office of the Parish President at 318-352-2714.
