The Natchitoches Kiwanis Chapter started off Saturday’s Jazz Fest events with their annual Pancake Breakfast and 5K run. Approximately 50 runners ran a course through the downtown area ending at the riverbank and the Kiwanis’ signature pancakes. The husband and wife duo of Rebecca and Gabe Ward led the pack, coming in first and second respectively. Natchitoches Kiwanis Chapter President, Haley Blount, and her Kiwanians were assissted by the NSU Tennis Team, the University’s Iota Mu chapter of Delta Sigma Theta and Circle K.
The money raised will be used by Kiwanis to fund their projects helping youth in the local community such as Terrific Kids, the Boys and Girls Club, CASA and other initiatives to help area youth. The Natchitoches Chapter also supports Kiwanis International’s Project Eliminate, aiming to eliminate the disease of tetanus throughout the world.
