French Festival set for April 30

By: Leah Jackson

Northwestern State University’s French Club will host a French Festival to celebrate French language, history and culture from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at Collins Pavilion on the NSU campus. Admission is free and open to the public. The event will feature French music, art, food and games for a day of entertainment in a carnival atmosphere.

“This festival is a celebration of the language we love, which is also a huge aspect of Louisiana culture,” said Club President Karla Ewing of Lafayette. “Spanish is now the most spoken second language in Louisiana. Promoting the French language is important to me and the other club members.”

The NSU French Club was reestablished last year as a Recognized Student Organization and an education opportunity for students, Ewing said. Membership consists of students and faculty with an interest in the French language.
