The Natchitoches Police Department has arrested Alverious Demars (B/M, 22 y.o.a., of Natchitoches) for the negligent shooting death of a three year old child.

On April 22, 2016 around 5:28 p.m., Officers with the Natchitoches Police Department responded to the 600 block of Sabine Alley in reference to child being shot. Upon Officers arrival they located a three year old child who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. The child was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Detectives were called to the scene and were able to determine that the three year old child came into possession of a firearm and accidently shot himself.

Alverious Demars is charged with Negligent Homicide and Obstruction of Justice. He is currently awaiting bond at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.
