Kinder Morgan announced Wednesday it was creating 300 jobs in Northeast Louisiana. The company will build natural gas connectors and pipelines in Madison, Franklin, Richland and Rapides Parishes starting later this year.
Allen Fore, Vice President of Public Affairs, made this announcement at the Rayville Civic Center. Pay for these jobs will start out anywhere from $20 to $30 an hour. The company also expects local and state governments to collect $4.1M in taxes during the duration of the project.
Kinder Morgan currently has 647 existing jobs in Louisiana and they’re excited about doing more business here.
“It’s a good state to do business in and I think it has a good balance between growing the economy and energy infrastructure and the environmental protections for the expansion of that infrastructure,” Fore said.
The project is scheduled to begin in October of this year, but most of the construction jobs will be available in in 2017. The project is expected to wrap up in early 2018.
