NSU Athletics issues advisory regarding misleading third-party sales efforts

NSU warning
As the 2016-17 Northwestern State athletics seasons are beginning, the NSU Athletics department has issued an advisory notice to businesses in the community and region with warning regarding third-party companies falsely representing themselves as advertising partners with NSU.

“A number of individuals and businesses have been contacted by companies claiming to be sales representatives for NSU Athletics, offering logo placement on spirit items,” said Adam Jonson, senior associate director of athletics. “These companies are, in fact, not partners with NSU Athletics. We want any and all businesses wishing to support our program to receive full benefit for their investment and to achieve the objectives desired for their advertising dollars.”

These companies, including Adverteez and Touchdown Sports, claim to be producing items such as shirts, spirit towels and banners to be used at NSU athletic events. They have not secured the rights through NSU athletics to represent the department or institution, nor have they received permission for their products to be used at NSU athletic events.

Any businesses contacted with offers to advertise on products are encouraged to contact the NSU Athletic Department to check on the validity of the offer.
