Guests say aloha to painting at Art Auction

artshow091516-1Guests donned Hawaiian Leis, sipped on piña coladas and held up their hands to bid at the Luau Night and Aloha Auction Thursday, Sept. 15 at the Natchitoches Art Guild and Gallery.

NAG President Jo Lapeyrouse welcomed everyone to the event and introduced each piece of art.

Auctioneer Jack Brittain sold a variety of artwork in various media and styles. Several of the pieces offered were juried pieces selected for inclusion in a competitive exhibition.

While bidders added to their art collections, Guest Artist and Auctioneer Rodney Harrington worked tirelessly on his own painting titled “Moondogs Over Natchitoches.” Although he may have had a little help here and there from friends, Harrington’s vision emerged by the end of the evening and was sold to his wife Jan.

The proceeds of the evening will go to the NAG so that they can continue their mission of providing a fine art venue for the community that showcases the work of local and area artists.
