Nine corrections officers terminated/suspended after three inmates escape

Nine Natchitoches Parish Detention Center Correctional Officers have been terminated or suspended without pay in connection with the violation of standard operating procedures at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones.

Asst. Chief of Corrections Roger Henson said four correctional officers were terminated as a result of an internal investigation, while five other correctional officers were suspended without pay or issued reprimands based on policy violations in connection with the escape of three Natchitoches Parish inmates on Aug. 27.

Investigators learned that none of the correctional officers were involved or assisted in the escape, however administrators believe that a break-down of procedures were not followed. Appropriate measures have been taken to make sure these procedures are corrected and followed by all detention center personnel.

Aspects of this internal investigation and the capture of these inmates are continuing.

Jones said they are using all resources within the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with the assistance of the US Marshal’s Fugitive Apprehension Team, Louisiana State Police and other law enforcement agencies to capture these escaped inmates.

Detectives are also investigating leads into possible suspects that may be assisting these escapees while they are on the run.

If you have any information concerning their whereabouts call 318-352-6432, 911, or the nearest law enforcement agency.

A reward is being offered for specific information leading to the capture of the escapees. Information will be kept confidential.
