Deadline to register for free cancer screenings is Dec. 19



CMAP’s cancer screening van will visit Natchitoches Parish Jan. 3-4 to offer eligible residents free breast, colorectal and cervical cancer screenings.

The van will be located in the Walmart parking lot at 925 Keyser Avenue in Natchitoches Tuesday, Jan. 3 from 9:45 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Services include clinical breast exams, mammograms, Pap smears, pelvic exams and take-home colorectal cancer kits. Appointments are required and the last day to schedule patient appointments is Dec. 19.

Annual breast and cervical screenings are recommended for women ages 40-64, and colorectal screenings for men and women ages 50-64. Residents should contact the Cancer Screening Project to see if they meet income and insurance qualifications.

The screening van is a partnership between The Rapides Foundation, CMAP and the Partners in Wellness Program at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center at LSU Health Shreveport.
