Cane River Creole Heritage Pageant contestants visit Grand Ecore

Contestants of the Cane River Creole Heritage Pageant enjoyed a spectacular view that overlooked the waterway at the Grand Ecore Visitors Center Nov. 19. The day of learning included a guided nature trail and museum tour, exhibits and interactive videos on how the Cane River was formed and the history and legacy of Marie Therese Coincoin. Contestants participated in an arts and crafts session to unleash their creativity and imagination by decorating and personalizing backpacks. Finally, they learned about manners with a fun and engaging etiquette classes.

The pageant promotes Creole Heritage and offers a healthy competition. It also provides socially enlightening skills that contestants can use throughout their lives.

The 2016-2017 Cane River Creole Heritage Pageant Committee includes: Rebecca Jones, Angela Anthony, Linda Jones, Lyn Christophe, Theresa Roque, Carla Roque Allen and Kimberly Gipson.
