NPSO assists West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputies with funeral escort 

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies assisted West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputies with the funeral escort of WBRSO Deputy William Shane Vascocu from Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home to Weaver Cemetary at Flora Dec. 15.
Deputy Vascocu, 45, was assigned as Commodore of the WBRSO Flotilla Unit.
He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend; who passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. He managed River City Roofing; was a resident of Port Allen and a native of Baton Rouge.

A visitation was held at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen Dec. 12 and at Holy Family Catholic Church Dec. 13. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Father David Allen. A visitation was held at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches Dec. 14 and Dec. 15. A Rite of Christian Burial was conducted by Father Charlie Ray. Interment followed at Weaver Cemetery in Flora.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Missy Vascocu; son, Reed Vascocu and wife Ashley; one grandchild on the way; parents, Bill and Sue Vascocu; sister, Kimberly Vascocu Baker and husband Sam; brother, Kent Kline; nieces, Whitney Baker and Lakyn Baker; nephew, Gage Baker; aunt, JoAnn Buckhalter and husband Ladd; uncle, Gary Vascocu; grandparents, Troy and Mayo Vascocu and Emeline McLaren; step father, Jim Burroughs; godmother, Clara Darbonne; extended family, Scott Clark and Kyle Lockhart; father in law, Jackie Spiers; mother in law, Jean Thorsen; brothers in law, Kenny Spiers and Kevin Spiers; and numerous cousins, family and friends who loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jewel Vascocu, Mary and Joseph Camarata, and B.D. McLaren.

Pallbearers included Reed Vascocu, Kyle Lockhart, Jim Burroughs, Sam “BoBo” Baker, Greg Carter, Rudy Prudencio, Danny Madere, Ronnie Patin and Martian “Rigo” Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers included the West Baton Rouge Parish Sherriff’s Office Flotilla.
Shane was a graduate of Lee High School. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, shooting pool and traveling. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Liver Association and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
