Local sixth graders pose with Northwestern State track and field competitors De’Shalyn Jones, Taishia Holt and Jacorious Jeter Friday morning at the Walter P. Ledet Track Complex during the 11th Annual Kids’ Health Fest presented by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. About 600 students participated.
Deputy Merry Byers, the NPSO Community Services Division head, coordinated the event through the NPSO Youth Services Division. Some of the other agencies participating included the Natchitoches Fire Department, Natchitoches City Police, the NPSO S.W.A.T. team, Louisiana State Police, and NSU University Police, along with Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and other health care agencies and professionals.
Activities included the 15th Annual Fun Run sponsored by the NPSO, a tour of exhibits supported by local law enforcement agencies and area health providers. Students went through health screenings and played games, viewed safety demonstrations, and received prizes and snacks.
