Sure, it’s April, but for horror fans, it’s never too early to start thinking about the next Halloween season. Natchitoches’ Dark Woods Haunted Attraction announces its new icon character and dates for this fall’s 3rd annual event, which will run for 14 nights, starting Sept. 22.
Drawing from the Natchitoches area’s most infamous tale of haunting history, Dark Woods has unearthed Isabella, the Black Bride of NSU’s Bullard Hall, to be the icon and hostess for the 2017 season. The stories of Isabella and her hauntings have captivated Natchitoches residents and NSU students alike for generations and now guests will finally have a chance to meet the infamous femme fatale at this year’s event.
“Our research into the dark bride’s legend began several years ago when we started sifting through and piecing together the “facts” and the fiction of Natchitoches’ most famous phantom. That led to our creative team reimagining her story for this generation to experience. We’ve worked with some of the best special effects artists in the US to help bring her to life for our guests and we’re really excited to “release” our Isabella and have her haunt Dark Woods!” says Jason Summerlin, co-owner/operator of Dark Woods Haunted Attraction. “We see introducing Isabella at Dark Woods as the next obvious step in our partnership with Northwestern State University’s Leadership Development program and our participation in the annual Chasing Isabella student Halloween activities.”
Isabella, the Black Bride of Bullard Hall will be appearing throughout the 2017 season in publicity outings and acting as the nightly ghost hostess during Dark Woods Halloween season operating hours.
Here is the schedule of nights for this year’s event:
Sept. 22-23, 29-30
Oct. 6-7, 13-14, 20-21, 31
Last year’s event featured a mind-bending, terror-filled world in the twisted halls of Dark Carnival in 3D, the area’s first and only ChromaDepth® 3D attraction, including event icon and fan favorite, Boogie the Clown, who will reappear in 2017. This year will also see the return of the updated Deadfall Trail, an outdoor journey winding over a ⅓ mile through the deepest recesses of Dark Woods that puts guests within uncomfortable reach of its horde of creeps and creatures. Expect Dark Woods to start revealing even more about the 2017 season sometime this spring.
