The weather was perfect for Bike Natchitoches’ Cane River Plantation Ride May 6, according to Carey Blanchard.
Blanchard said there were over 90 bicyclists that registered and around 25 volunteers manning hydration stations and signing people up for the event. The Brothers Keepers Motorcycle Club in Natchitoches escorted the riders on the 15-mile, 25-mile and metric century (62.5-mile) rides.
The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS were on hand for safety. Participants enjoyed a Jambalaya lunch and a quilt with a bicycle motif was raffled off. A large group from the Shreveport Bicycle Club rode the metric Century ride, which took them through the beautiful, hilly forest scenery of the Kisatchie National Forest, including the Long Leaf Vista Trail.
“It was a great ride with good weather and great fellowship,” said Blanchard.
