Ceremony honors 154 years of service

Louie Bernard welcomed friends, family and coworkers to a Retirement Ceremony June 30 celebrating the exemplary careers of four individuals who collectively served the citizens of Natchitoches Parish with 154 years of dedicated employment at the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Victor Jones Jr., Senator Gerald Long, State Rep. Kenny Cox and Parish Assessor Dollie Mahoney spoke about the dedication and service of Sandra Blake Williams, Paul Keyser Jr., Calvin McFerrin, and Kenneth Kaufman. Cox and Jones presented each retiree with a plaque of recognition for their service and Mahoney gave them gifts as a token of appreciation.

Northwestern State University President Dr. Chris Maggio bestowed the Nth Degree on all four NSU graduates. This was the first time he’s presented the prestigious honor since he became NSU’s 19th president in May. The Nth degree recognizes individuals who go the extra mile in meritorious service to mankind and whose professional responsibilities and various other roles in making the world a better place are carried out to the Nth Degree.
