Campti man arrested after firing a weapon during disturbance

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Campti man on weapons charges after he allegedly fired a weapon during a family disturbance in Campti on Aug. 27, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Johnny Ray Price, 58, of the 100 block of Fisher Street in Campti, was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center and charged with one-count of Illegal Use of Weapons.

NPSO Patrol Division deputies responded to 911 reports of a disturbance Sunday at 2 pm with shots fired in the 100 block of Sherry Circle in Campti.

Deputies discovered several individuals arguing around multiple residences in the area. Deputies learned while talking to concerned citizens, that a person identified as Johnny Ray Price allegedly fired a handgun multiple times in the area during the disturbance.
Deputies made contact with Price and requested permission to search his vehicle where he allegedly concealed the handgun. During a search of the trunk area, deputies discovered a Hi-Point 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

Deputies then interviewed and collected statements from individuals in the area confirming that Price fired the handgun. Price was arrested without incident. No one was reportedly injured. Price remains in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.

Bond has been set by a Tenth Judicial District Court Judge at $10,000. The weapon has been seized as evidence pending court proceedings.
