City Council discusses unsafe buildings, one-time supplemental pay for employees

City Council Nov. 13

City Planning and Zoning Director Juanita Fowler updated City Council members of the progress being made with a list of buildings declared unsafe at a prior City Council meeting. At Monday night’s meeting, Nov. 13, Fowler said she’s made contact with most of the owners, who have provided her with proof of progress on cleaning up/demolishing their properties.

In other news, the City approved a resolution recognizing the need to increase the compensation of its employees. There is a sufficient surplus in the Worker’s Compensation fund and the City will make a one-time salary supplement payment of $500 to the regular full time employees actively working and $250 to the regular part time (non-seasonal) employees.
