American Indian Crafts Day to be held Saturday – Today


American Indian crafts people from Louisiana and adjacent states will demonstrate and sell their work at Northwestern State University on Saturday, Dec. 2. The annual American Indian Crafts Day will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Williamson Museum on the second floor of Kyser Hall. Admission is free and open to the public,

Pinestraw and river cane baskets, cypress and oak baskets, alligator and gar scale jewelry, sewn beadwork and other traditional crafts will be available from the Houma, Choctaw, Tunica-Biloxi, Alabama-Coushatta and other tribes.

The NSU Anthropology Society and the Williamson Museum are sponsoring the event. All proceeds go to the craftspeople.
