DA announces guilty plea and prison sentence in burglary

Natchitoches Parish District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington announced Dec. 22 the guilty plea and prison sentence in a burglary case.

Leandrew Evans of Natchitoches pleaded guilty in 10th Judicial District Court of count of simple burglary.

Evan pleaded guilty to forcibly entering the victims home, which was equipped with a video surveillance system. The video depicted three persons burglarizing the home, of which Evan was identified as one of the burglars.

During the plea hearing, Judge Desiree Dyess sentenced Evans to ten years of incarceration in the custody the La. Department of Corrections. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Amanda McClung.

“Fortunately, the homeowner’s surveillance system provided evidence for this crime that facilitated the prosecution and conviction of the defendant. We encourage citizens to always keep a watchful eye for suspicious activity their neighborhoods and report any unusual activity to the police,” said District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington.
