Natchitoches mother and son arrested in connection with domestic violence incident

A Natchitoches man and his mother were arrested in connection with a domestic violence incident investigation that occurred last weekend near Natchitoches according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

NPSO Patrol Division deputies responded to an undisclosed location May 31 at 12:18 pm to interview a female that was allegedly beaten by her boyfriend at his residence in the 700 block of Fish Hatchery Road near Natchitoches last weekend.

Deputies say upon coming in contact with the victim, they observed severe bruising and swelling to her face, arms and upper body.

The victim had been treated at an Alexandria hospital for her injuries.

Deputies learned during the investigation, the victim was allegedly abused by her 32-year-old boyfriend identified as Cody Lane Crittenden after he thought she contacted an ex-acquaintance on social media.

During the struggle, Crittenden also allegedly pulled the victim’s hair, and put his fingers down her throat in addition to her other injuries.

Deputies also learned when the victim attempted to leave the residence, Crittenden’s mother identified as 68-year-old Diane F. Crittenden prevented her from leaving allegedly stating “you’re not going anywhere! My son is not going back to jail”.

The victim was given her vehicle keys and allowed to leave the next day.

Deputies along with assistance from Deputies Merry Byers and Vanessa Stanfield assigned to the NPSO Community Services Division Domestic Violence Unit interviewed the victim for a statement and photographed her injuries.

Deputies obtained sufficient evidence and probable cause to obtain criminal warrants signed by a Tenth Judicial District Judge for the arrests of both the suspect and his mother.

On Thursday evening, after 7:00pm, deputies arrested both suspects without incident at the residence.

*Cody L. Crittenden, 32, of the 700 block of Fish Hatchery Road, Natchitoches, La. transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Dating Violence, Second Degree Battery, and False Imprisonment.

Cody Crittenden remains in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center with bond set at $9000 by a Tenth Judicial District Court Judge.

A protective order has also been signed by a judge.

*Diane F. Crittenden, 68, of the 700 block of Fish Hatchery Road, Natchitoches, La. transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Principle to False Imprisonment.

Diane Crittenden was released on O/R Bond set by a Tenth Judicial District Court Judge on Friday afternoon pending her court appearance.

The case file will be turned over to the Natchitoches Parish District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.

    that poor girl.Mom looks like a tough ole gal,may run her own gang inside.

  2. Wow, wondering if anyone else has encountered this mother in WalMart parking lot begging for money to pay for her prescriptions. She has tried to approach me multiple times with same sob story.
