Shooting investigation underway

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 911 reports of a disturbance with shots fired near the 100 block of Boston Fowler Road off of Hwy. 6 East near Natchitoches according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones.

NPSO Patrol Division deputies, Criminal Investigations Division, State Police, Natchitoches Parish Coroners Office, Natchitoches Parish District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington and Agents with the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force responded to the scene Monday, June 4 at 5:39 pm.

Deputies discovered a deceased male lying on Rex Waterwell Road suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body.

The name of the victim is currently being withheld pending notification of family.

Sheriff Jones said the Sheriff’s Office is in the early stages of this investigation.

Detectives are still processing the crime scene, gathering evidence, executing search warrants and interviewing possible suspects and witnesses in this case with the assistance of the Natchitoches District Attorney’s Office.
