Contestants get ready for upcoming Cane River Creole Heritage Pageant

Creole Heritage Pageant

The Cane River Creole Heritage Pageant promotes Creole Heritage and offers a healthy competition. It also provides socially enlightening skills that contestants can use throughout their lives. Contestants gathered at the St. Augustine Catholic Church Hall April 28 to build long lasting friendships and learn more about our captivating Creole culture. The day of learning included a hands-on fun and engaging praline making class by Ms. Lita Lemelle, a guided tour of the Melrose Plantation where they learned about the history and legacy of Marie Thèréze Coincoin. Contestants also participated in an arts and crafts session to unleash their creativity and imagination by decorating and personalizing their very own beautiful handmade storybook.

The pageant is set for June 23 at 1 pm at the Natchitoches Events Center, 750 Second Street in Natchitoches. Contact Pageant Director, Carla Roque Allen at 501-960-4906, Theresa Roque at 318-792-3341 or email to purchase tickets.
