A Sunday evening crash on La. Hwy 494 left a motorcyclist severely injured according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
NPSO Patrol Division, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS and Natchitoches Parish Fire District #5 responded to 911 reports of a motorcycle crash with injuries June 10 at 7:43 pm on Hwy. 494 north of Natchez.
Deputies and EMS arrived on scene discovering a male suffering from serious injuries. Life Air was requested to respond.
Deputies say Richard Lingerfelt, 49 of Rustique Brick, Colombia, was operating a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling eastbound on Hwy. 494 when he apparently left the road on right in a curve, the motorcycle continued to travel through a ditch striking a concrete culvert going airborne, then flipped ejecting the operator.
Lingerfelt was airlifted from the scene by Life Air to Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria with serious injuries.
On Monday afternoon, Lingerfelt was listed in stable condition in ICU awaiting surgery.
Lingerfelt was wearing a helmet.
The crash is being investigated by Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police, Troop-E Alexandria.
