The local chapter of the American Cancer Society held its 2nd annual “Belles and Beaus on the Cane” announcement party & fundraiser at a local restaurant Aug. 2. The event drew over 100 people to help create a world with more birthdays and to honor 12 local survivors, healthcare professionals, caregivers and community activists. The attendees enjoyed drinks, hors d’ oeuvres and a silent auction of a Tiffany bracelet and vacation to Antigua. The night’s party is expected to raise over $1,000 for the society. Elizabeth Alleman was the luckiest person of the evening, winning both the bracelet and the vacation.
The Natchitoches Chapter of the American Cancer Society asks the community to “save the date” for the 2018 Belles & Beaus on the Cane Gala to be held at Melrose Plantation on Saturday, Sept. 15. This event garnered the Cancer Society $50,000 last year. Let’s make this year even better and give the American Cancer Society the tools to fight this insidious disease. Tickets for the event are $100 and may be purchased online at the society’s website or by calling the office at 318-219-1668.
