Mr, Robert Parfitt, Veterans Outreach Specialist for the Alexandria Vet Center, spoke to the Gordon-Peters American Legion Post Tuesday, Sept. 4 about the services offered to veterans by the vet center.
The Alexandria Vets Center is one of 300 such centers across the Unites States’ that offer counseling to veterans. The centers are staffed by fully credentialed counselors who stand ready to assist veterans with their transition to civilian life. They help with filing for benefits and employment counseling. For veterans facing PTSD, bereavement, sexual trauma/harassment or other serious issues, the center offers more intensive services. All of the services are completely free of charge to the veteran.
The Alexandria Vets Center is located at 5803 Coliseum Drive in Alexandria and may be reached at 318-466-4327.
