The Great 100 Nurses Foundation announced the inclusion of three members of the Northwestern State University faculty in the Great 100 Nurses Celebration of Louisiana. Dr. Danita Potter, Ann Deshotels and Dr. Star Booker will be among those honored during a celebration at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.

Potter is director of the RN to BSN program and an associate professor, Deshotels is an assistant professor and Booker is adjunct faculty in NSU’s College of Nursing

The Great 100 Nurses Foundation was founded in New Orleans in 1986. Since its founding, the Great 100 Celebrations have honored thousands of nurses in Louisiana, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. These exemplary nurses are selected based on their concern for humanity, their contributions to the profession of nursing and their mentoring of others. Each year, community, health care, government leaders, family, friends and peers join together to honor the Great 100 Nurses. Funds raised at the celebration support nursing advocacy, nursing scholarships and research, publication and implementation of discoveries.

Admission to the Great 100 Nurses of Louisiana Celebration is free with complimentary food, a cash bar and silent auction. Attire is business casual. Doors open at 6 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m. More information is available at g100nurses.org.
