Natchitoches’ favorite season is fast approaching! City utility trucks are starting to string up lights. Miss Merry Christmas and the Belles are making appearances at local events. A sense of anticipation is building.
Mayor Lee Posey, Miss Merry Christmas and the Christmas Belles joined a capacity crowd dowtown for the unveiling of the official 2018 Natchitoches Christmas Festival Poster Oct. 4. This year’s poster was painted by Matthew Yerby. Yerby, originally from Winn Parish, is a former NSU baseball player who graduated from the university in 2011. He now makes his home in Hollywood, California where he is a screenwriter.
The poster will not be the last Natchitoches sees of this multi-talented young man. He will be returning to his adopted hometown in 2019 to film and direct a screenplay he wrote, titled “Run Around Sue.” The Natchitoches Parish Journal wishes to commend Matthew Yerby for a job well done and is looking forward to seeing what the future holds for him. Well done!
Posters are available at a price of $35 each. Posters may be purchased at the Natchitoches Arts Council office.
