The Young at Heart met Nov. 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches. The program was wowed by a presentation from John Ropp and his dummy Uncle Zeke.
John gave an interesting story about his experience as an amateur ventriloquist, and closed with a demonstration of how Jesus died on a cross (two drinking straws) for all our sins, and they are forgotten and separated from us as far as the East from the West.
Birthdays celebrated included Ruth Milam, Stephanie Kautz and John McTyre. An anniversary of 40 years was celebrated by Daniel and M J Gonzales.
Brother Doug prayed over several prayer requests and many shared storm stories. Decorations were provided by the Dethloff Circle of Methodist Women, and after a meal of turkey and dressing, all were invited to take home a mini pumpkin for their decorations.
The church is offering a Thanksgiving meal to go from 10-12 noon Thanksgiving day. Call Gina at the church office at 357-8297 and reserve a meal with return phone number, name and address.
They can be picked up at 411 2nd street First Methodist Church parking lot. Volunteers from community are invited to come Thanksgiving morning from 8-10 to cook, or from 10-12 to deliver.
