CITY IMPLEMENTS CROSSWALK TO IMPROVE PEDESTRIAN SAFETY

The City of Natchitoches would like to advise the public, that weather permitting, work will begin on Monday, April 8 to construct a raised crosswalk on Isadore Drive in front of Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.

The purpose of this crosswalk is to improve safety for pedestrians crossing Isadore Drive in this area.

It is anticipated that this work will be completed within two weeks. While construction is ongoing, traffic on this section of Isadore Drive will be limited to one lane. In order to minimize inconvenience, motorists should plan to utilize nearby alternate streets during this time.

Questions may be directed to the Office of the Mayor at (318) 352-2772.

  1. Agreed. Running down tourists seems counter-intuitive to drawing in more tourist dollars.

Lots of places need crosswalks around here: across Kyser for people going to the grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, or Walmart, for example.

  2. Why has this city not taken into consideration having crosswalks for the students of northwestern state university. It’s pitiful as hell no one except myself and a few others bother to stop for the pedestrians and students in this community.
Watch and see how many vehicles will not stop for pedestrians on front Street it’s pitiful. Most of these folks are tourist coming to town to spend their money to support our town and most don’t give a crap
