This is why we can’t have nice things. City Council members reviewed security footage from the recycling center on Mill Street at its meeting Tuesday, May 28.
Yes, there is now a video surveillance system in place to catch anyone trying to dump their garbage where it doesn’t belong! No, crawfish are not recyclable.
The video shows a resident dumping bags of trash in the recycling bins, which contaminates the recyclables inside. So everyone who diligently collects their recyclable items and brings them to the center has done it all for nothing, simply because one person decides to break the rules and ruin it all. But don’t worry. The City is working to identify the culprit who contaminated the recycling bins.
In other news, Council meetings will be held in the municipal building adjacent to the Fire Department for the next 6-7 months while the Arts Center is remodeled.

The city can always find a way to waste money.
exactly Joe.They said around and they are like Mmmm, how can we poorly
spend money.?
Who do they have on the case? Inspector Clouseau or Inspector Gadget?
so we are more interested in illegal dumping then the 4 shootings in
the last 2 weeks ?
On the crawfish dumping in the recycle bin… some years ago the City put out an announcement that dumping crawfish and crawfish boil down street drains was illegal and asked citizens to report it if they see someone do it. I doubt anyone has because people simply don’t believe anything will be done. If you report a neighbor breaking that law nothing will happen to them, maybe a warning not to do it again, and then your neighbor will be mad at you forever.
Nothing will happen to this fellow either.
Had a neighbor turn me in for smoking weed! The cops came arrested me and wanted to know where I bought bit! I told them my neighbor!
LOL ! that is awesome.Your neighbor sounds like a “jerk”.
so you can’t smoke pot at your own house ? He was probably
jeaous or some stiff police officer.
Your neighbor is Chong and y’all went “Up in Smoke”!
So very happy that the remodel is starting.
Yes sir! another $million bucks well spent!
if you catch this guy, make him help with remodel and cut down on
cost of labor.
About as well spent as the “green space” walking trail.
Is the green space walking trail finished yet? I’m sure it will be nice when it is. It’s a darn sight better than the dilapidated old dry cleaners building that was there.
