NPSO deputies undergo annual in-service training

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies began their yearly in-service training at the Natchitoches Parish Range. Deputies received 9 hours of firearms training which included Rifle Certification, Shotgun Recertification and Close Quarter Firearms training. Deputies were placed in stress related scenarios which required them to engage targets from inside and around vehicles, using their vehicles as cover, reloading techniques and other tactics that would be advantageous in the line of duty. The NPSO training Division assisted by Rapides Parish Sheriffs Deputy Joey Gross, who is a Close Quarter Battle (CQB) instructor utilized decommissioned police vehicles to use in this training.

NPSO will continue in-service training for all Certified deputies which will include: firearms training, Taser Re-certification, De-escalation training, Officer Safety, Police Line-up and Suspect Identification, 2019 Legal Updates, First-Aid, CPR, “Stop the Bleed” Training, and Active Shooter.
