Road or Lane Status: LA 1 in Natchitoches

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises the public that on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 7:00 am, work will begin on the above referenced project. Lane closures beginning at 7:00 am through 7:00 pm can be expected. Operations will continue approximately 60 days or until work is complete. This will allow for construction of truss sign footings and installation of overhead signs along LA 1 north bound near Natchitoches. However, thru traffic will be maintained through the project at all times.

The project consists of permanent signing, sign mountings, sign mounting footings and related work.

This contract was awarded to Alpha Service and Products, Inc. at a cost of $535,366.65. This project is expected to be completed within the 125 working days with exceptions for inclement weather.

  1. Hwy 1 going north out of Natchitoches is a disgrace. Put up one sign saying “substandard and hazarded road” because that’s what we have to drive on. Fix the darn road, nevermind the signs!!!

  2. what happened to digging a 1 foot hole and adding quick crete ?
    A huge footing is stupid and will break just as easy when a car or semi hits hit.I won’t even take Hwy now from Natchitoches to Powhattan that road is crap !!

    • Take a ride out to 49 and see how much concrete they are using to hold up
      a mile marker or a stop sign at the off ramp.

  3. They are spending over half a million dollars on signs? The condition of Hwy 1 North, between Texas Street and the Parish landfill is horrible! Can’t hardly do the speed limit, and they are spending half a million on signs?
