Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a north Natchitoches Parish man in connection with the burglary of the Campti Community Center according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones. NPSO Patrol Division deputies responded to a reported burglary of the Campti Community Center on July 22 at 9:30 am.

Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with the executive director. They learned entry was gained through a rear door. Items reported stolen in the burglary were a 32-inch flat screen television, large speaker and amplifier, a crock pot, small refrigerator, assorted potato chips and drinks.

Deputies photographed, processed the crime scene and gathered information for an offense report for investigative purposes. As the investigation progressed, deputies obtained information that led them to a person of interest identified as Derrick Lloyd of Campti. NPSO Criminal Investigations deputies were notified and responded to assist.

A short while later, deputies located Lloyd standing in the yard of his residence in the 200 block of Robieu Street in Campti. Deputies observed multiple drinks in plain view near Lloyd that were items reported stolen. Deputies obtained permission to search the residence.

During a search of the residence, deputies and investigators recovered most of the items stolen in the burglary.

Derrick J. Lloyd, 30, of 200 block of Robieu Street, Campti was placed under arrest, transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Simple Burglary. Lloyd remains in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center awaiting bond.

Involved in the investigation and arrest were: Deputy M. Giammone, Deputy D. Hobley assisted by Detectives D. Winder and C. LaCour.

Detectives say the investigation into other burglaries in the area where Lloyd may have been involved is ongoing.
