Campti Community Development Center organizes Summer Enrichment Program

The Campti Community Development Center (CCDC) is a great place to be during the summer. The CCDC partnered with the Campti Field of Dreams, Campti Senior Adult Program (C-SAP), Christus Health, United Way, and International Paper to offer an educational program. “Learning is Fun” and summertime is a great period for children to learn and have fun. That’s why some of Campti’s youth and senior adults participated in a summer enrichment program.

Of course, each morning started with Harambee which means “Let’s Pull Together.” Youth of all ages had an awesome opportunity to work alongside senior adults to enhance their learning experiences. The focus this summer was planting which included such topics as: soil health, irrigation, mulch, wood chips, pruning, fertilization, photosynthesis, ecosystem, plant parts, rainfall simulation, erosion and sedimentation control, garden totem, educational agriculture based reading materials and coloring books and arts and craft.

One of the art activities included designing, and painting their own totem pole for students to take home. For more information about CCDC program opportunities contact Judy Daniels at (318) 228-5454.
