School start date pushed back until August 12

The start date for Natchitoches Parish Schools will be pushed back from Aug. 8 until Aug. 12, according to Superintendent Dale Skinner. There is still no working AC in two schools and there are problems in others. All schools have new equipment and some kinks still need to be worked out. The facilities will be nicer for the students when they start school but Skinner said they can’t put students and teachers in the buildings until things are running properly. He expressed his deep appreciation for all the staff members who have been real warriors, fighting the high temperatures to get the classrooms and schools ready for students. He said everyone has showed admirable patience and diligence throughout this process.
