Lakeview High School holds Open House

Lakeview Jr & Sr High School held its annual Open House on Aug. 15 and it was bursting at the seams with family, friends, and laughter! At one point more than 200 people were in the cafeteria enjoying red beans and rice with down home sausage, corn bread, and homemade cake reminiscing about the good old days while enjoying good company and good food.

Parents, students, and community members had the opportunity to meet the faculty and staff of Lakeview, tour the campus and enjoy dinner. Also on hand were school board members Eugene Garner and Pastor Steven Harris. Felicia Pinkney from the district office was also at Open House visiting with parents and community members.

The school has long been seen as the anchor of the town of Campti. A comment made by one of the guests summed up what many people feel about the school. When asked by a parent if he had a child who attends the school, the gentleman said, “No, I just came to visit and eat dinner.” This embodies the philosophy of the school that has an open door policy and welcomes the community to come and visit to see what’s going on. When a community is invested in its school and its children everyone wins. Come on in, and help us grow!
