Rotary Club learns about Natchitoches’ Cancer Center

Sarah Stewart Nelson, Administrator/Director of the Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center and the Dean of Central Louisiana Technical Community College Laurie Morrow visited with the Rotary Club of Natchitoches at its meeting on Aug. 20. They described the mission of the Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center located on 211 Medical Drive, directly off of Keyser Avenue in Natchitoches. The Center was created to provide cancer treatment services to the local community, so patients would not have to travel outside of Natchitoches Parish for treatments. Furthermore, they created the Northwest Cancer Foundation. Through this foundation and their fundraisers, they were able to purchase a van, so they could pick-up and return patients to their homes after cancer treatments. This relieved them of having to drive themselves or relying on others to drive them to and from their treatments. Morrow is a member of the Foundation and a Group Leader for the Patient Celebration Center as she wanted to give back to the Center that treated her so kindly when she was seeking treatment for her cancer which is now in remission.
