The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum was the place to be Monday, September 9 for LSU and NSU sports fans. The popular venue hosted the Monday Evening Demon-Tigers Kickoff Party, a prelude to the eagerly awaited NSU v. LSU football game next week on Saturday, September 14 at LSU’s Death Valley. The event featured hors d’oeuvres and finger-foods and a selection of autographed LSU sports memorabilia auctioned to benefit the museum.
NSU President, Dr. Chris Maggio, started off the evening by introducing the visiting LSU Athletic Director, Scott Woodward, LSU Board of Supervisors member, Valencia Jones and former LSU player and current Executive Deputy Athletic Director, Verge Ausberry. NSU Head Football Coach Brad Laird spoke to the crowd of 50 LSU and NSU supporters and said the football team is looking forward to playing in the storied LSU stadium. NSU Athletic Director, Greg Burke, thanked his LSU counterpart for the professionalism and warm hospitality extended to NSU. He also mentioned that the Demons will be accompanied by the full 342 member Spirit of Northwestern Band and spirit groups.
The new LSU Athletic Director, Scott Woodward then spoke about the upcoming game and fielded a wide ranging variety of questions from the audience about LSU sports and the SEC.
