Laine Hardy Headlines 2019 Tappedtober

By Ricky LaCour

Last season’s winner of American Idol, Laine Hardy, graced the stage of downtown Natchitoches on Oct. 12 at the 2nd Annual TappedTober event. Many came from as far as California to enjoy the soulful sounds of the singer-songwriter as he serenaded the audience with covers of the music he performed on the show and his LP In the Bayou.

“Our team spent months trying to find the perfect balance of an artist with the name recognition that would draw a crowd,” said Sarah Stewart Nelson. “When Daniel Page came to us with Laine Hardy, we knew he was the one we wanted for our event.”

Local celebrity, Trini Triggs with 94.9 The River, hyped up the crowd as they chanted in preparation for Hardy to take the stage as the riverbank filled with people of all ages ready to “party with the Hardy.”

His performance began with covers of several classics including “Bring It On Home to Me” by Sam Cooke and “Come Together” by the Beatles. For those who were not fans already, Hardy gathered many new fans with his coronation song “Flame” and a few more songs from his LP as he engaged the crowd walking through, soulfully captivating everyone.

As he boarded a police escort boat at the end of his performance, that wrapped the evening on the success of this year’s Craft Beer and Wine Festival.

  1. Does anyone know what happened when Laine was preparing to sing “Flame” and ran off the stage? I hope no one was hurt. I heard someone say Laci. Have been very concerned.

  2. Laine Hardy was AWESOME as usual!!! You definitely picked the RIGHT performer to bring in a crowd. Everyone is crazy about his music and his beautiful heart & Soul.
There were several things that wasn’t so great about Saturday but I will address that at another time.

  3. I love this kid. I voted for him every chance I got & as many times as I could. I was so happy when he won American Idol. He is so sweet, kind hearted & has a true Luisiana soul & you can hear it in his voice. He reminds me of a young Elvis Presley, but with less hip action! Good luck Laine you are AMAZING!!!

  4. Love our Bayou Boy… Laine Hardy!!! He’s a wonderful young man going places. We’re blessed to be alive during his time. ❤️❤️❤️
