Open Gubernatorial General Election to be held November 16

The Open Gubernatorial General Election to be held Saturday, Nov. 16. Polling places will open at 7 am and close at 8 pm. State candidates include Governor and Secretary of State. Local candidates include Parish President (Parish-wide), Parish Council Member District 4 and Parish Council Member District 5.

The deadline to register to vote and/or make changes in person or by mail was Oct. 16 at 4:30 pm. The deadline to register online is Oct. 26 at 11:59 pm. Early voting in the Registrar of Voters office will begin on Saturday, Nov. 2 – Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8:30 am – 6 pm (closed Sunday).

Absentee voting by mail is intended for voters who will be out of the parish on Election Day and the week of Early Voting, or if the person is over 65 years of age, or has a mobility impaired ID card (must provide copy). The deadline to make a written request for an absentee ballot by mail is Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 4:30 pm. Written request forms can be downloaded at http://www.sos.la.gov under “Elections.” Click on the “Vote” link, and then click not he “Vote by Mail” option on the application to vote by mail.

Your written request must include:

Voter’s name
Voter’s Natchitoches Parish address
Voter’s date of birth
Voter’s social security number or drivers license number
Reason the ballots is being requested
Election date (Nov. 16, 2019)
Address to where the ballot is to be mailed
Voter’s signature

Ballots must be returned to the Registrar of Voters Office by mail on Friday, Nov. 15 by 4:30 pm. Military and overseas ballots must be returned to the Registrar of Voters Office by mail or by fax before 12 pm on Nov. 16.

    • I know many of you are longing for the good old Jindal days when a lack of money was no impediment to spending. Also I doubt seriously if your state taxes went up one bit. Cleaning up from 8 years of Jindal required a lot of work and a we had to swallow a few bitter pills, which were mild compared to the alternative. Now that we have turned the corner, JBE deserves a chance to finish what he started. We already have John Kennedy, we don’t need another mouthpiece like Rispone
