NSU Soccer: Northwestern State’s Kalee Williams earns Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week

First, it was Hallie Field. Then, it was Natalee Henry. Now, it’s Kalee Williams’ time to shine.

For the third time this season, a Northwestern State soccer player has been named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

The sophomore from Frisco, Texas, scored her second goal of the season (and career) in a 3-1 victory Sunday afternoon against Houston Baptist. She headed in a shot off a corner kick sent in by Rachel Brandt to give the Lady Demons a 1-0 lead.

She also was part of a back line that allowed just 12 shots in a split against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Houston Baptist this past weekend in a split.

Field was the first recipient for NSU after she scored the lone goal against Texas State, and Henry two weeks after that after she scored the winner against Lamar.

NSU heads on the road this upcoming weekend with trips to Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana, before coming back for one final home contest against Central Arkansas.
