Lakeview FFA members win at State Fair Ag Mechanics contest

Lakeview FFA members built and entered projects in the State Fair Ag Mechanics contest/silent auction. The wagon wheel bench, built by Zack Favella, Duston Humphries, and Tyler Williams, received grand champion in metal work. The arbor bench, built by Larry Vaughn, Rodney Williams, and Tyler Williams won reserve grand champion in woodworking. Both of the items qualified for the live auction, bringing in a total of $3,100 (wagon wheel bench-$1,200/arbor bench $1,900). Zack Favela, Tyler Williams, Rodney Williams, Larry Vaughn, Duston Humphries, and a few other individuals that also made contributions, built these items in Mr. Yount’s agriculture classes. These projects provided opportunities for students to learn skills in planning, estimating, metal cutting, arc welding, and safely constructing a project using modern tools and techniques.
