The gymnasium at East Natchitoches Elementary School was the the place to be Thursday, December 19 as the school’s choral music classes presented “December in Our Town”, a delightful production consisting of holiday songs from various cultures in our nation. Many of the children have attended the East Natchitoches School of Fine Arts, now in its second year at the school. Prior to that, the program was housed at L. P. Vaughn.
The East Natchitoches School of Fine Arts is housed at the school , but is open to any child in the parish. For a very modest fee, children receive expert instruction from NSU Music Education majors and area musicians. Due to generous donations from the community, there are scholarships available for families who may need help.
The program was superbly done and it was a joy to see the children’s enthusiasm as their hard work came to fruition. There are smart and talented children in each and every one of our parish’s schools. Finding and developing our children’s intellect, talent and creativity is a moral obligation on us all. Principal Davis, Mr. Von Kanel and the faculty and staff of East Natchitoches Elementary School are to be commended. Given the proper leadership, our parish’s children can rise to any challenge put before them.
Kudos to East Natchitoches Elementary School Fine Arts staff, students & parents of these talented students, job well done!
