The Natchitoches City Council held a brief meeting Monday evening, Aug. 24. Newly elected Council Members Chris Petite and Rosemary Washington attended the meeting, along with Mayor-Elect Ronnie Williams Jr. Outgoing Council Members Sylvia Morrow and Lawrence Batiste spoke of their appreciation for being able to serve their community.
Morrow also took a moment to present Stephanie Metoyer with a certificate recognizing her as a first time homeowner in the newest Fuller home on Bossier Street. City Council Member at Large Betty Smith serves on the board for the Natchitoches Fuller Center for Housing.
The Fuller Center for Housing, faith-driven and Christ-centered, promotes collaborative and innovative partnerships with individuals and organizations in an unrelenting quest to provide adequate shelter for all people in need worldwide.
In other business, two agenda items dealt with drilling test water wells on Waterwell Road with LCDBG grant funding to help improve the water quality for the village of Powhatan. This involves running a line from Bayou Pierre to Powhatan. This will be a sizable project that will allow for the City to purchase a tract of land to drill each well on. The wells will also serve as a backup water source the future for the City when it goes to rehab its water tank no. 3.

Approve A Lease, Agreement And Option Between Elizabeth S. Arthur, Et Al, And The City Of Natchitoches For Test Water Well To Be Located In Section 10, Township 8 North, Range 7 West, And Authorizing The Mayor To Execute The Lease, Agreement And Option On Behalf Of The City Of Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Execute an Agreement With The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) for improvements at the Natchitoches Regional Airport. (Replace Localizer Equipment)
