The Natchitoches Parish School Board entered into an executive session at its meeting Thursday night, Oct. 8, to discuss Superintendent Grant Eloi’s evaluation. At the committee meeting Tuesday night, Oct. 6, Eloi provided board members with a recap for his first 6 months as Superintendent.
The district is now on a 1:1 ratio with iPads. Eloi has overseen the hiring of a new business manger, food service manager, and a communications manager; the hiring and placement of an amazing cohort of principals; helped navigate the start of school during a pandemic; worked with his team to create a virtual school option within the span of a two month period; navigated Hurricane Laura; worked to reduce the uncertified teacher population (90% of uncertified teachers have a bachelor’s degree and three have a master’s degree); started a discussion for the need to analyze the budget (this would be done with an audit through a third party or the group the district is already engaged with); started the process of reviewing all internal policies to ensure they’re up to date, accurate and appropriate (which should be finished within the calendar year); started a cultural diversity committee; started the process of moving the district into the 21st century through different software and policies to improve district processes; and entered into conversations and entered into initial agreements with Northwestern State University and the Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) in regards to associate degrees to change opportunities for students in the parish.
“Culturally, our system is on the move,” said Eloi. “We’re improving the moral and how we do school in this district.
