Natchitoches Central High School senior Darius Young has been invited to represent Class 5A in the 2021 Louisiana High School Coaches Association Boys Basketball All-Star Game.
A three-year starter, Young has been instrumental this season in his team’s 18-1 overall record and a Number 1 ranking in 5A. Young has also been key in securing an undefeated district record. He has a season average of 21 points and 11 rebounds, while providing a much needed defensive presence in the middle with fellow big man Jaiden Hare.
Darius is the 10th Chief in the past 13 seasons to be selected to the LHSCA All-Star Game, and the seventh in a row for Natchitoches Central.
The LHSCA All-Star Game is the highest recognition that a senior can receive from the state. All participants are selected by a committee of LHSAA coaches from around the state.
This year’s All-Star Game will be held Saturday, March 20, at a location still to be decided due to Covid restrictions.
“This program is so proud of Darius and how he represents us, and also the amount of growth and maturity that Darius has shown over his four years here. We are excited to see him carry his career beyond Natchitoches Central and continue to develop as a young man,” says head coach Kolton Sepulvado.
The Chiefs will wrap up the regular season as soon as weather allows, getting ready for the state playoffs to begin.
