NATCHITOCHES — For the second consecutive week the Northwestern State women’s soccer team earned a Southland Conference Player of the Week honor. And for the second consecutive week it’s recognition for NSU’s last line of defense.
Junior goaltender Acelya Aydogmus reeled in the Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week award after her second consecutive shutout. She turned away a season-high four shots in the Lady Demons’ Southland Conference opener, a 1-0 victory at Sam Houston.
The last and only goal that Aydogmus has allowed in 2021 occurred in the first half of the season-opening match at Louisiana Tech. That means it has been 241 minutes since NSU’s surrendered a score.
Northwestern State remains on the road, traveling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday at 7 p.m. That proceeds a Sunday matinee match at Houston Baptist at 1 p.m.
