(DERRY)-A Rapides Parish man was arrested on outstanding warrants, drug and weapons charges during a traffic stop on I-49 on Monday evening according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On Monday evening June 7th, at approximately 6:30pm, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division were patrolling on Interstate-49 near Derry when they stopped a 2015 Audi Q5, for speeding 100 miles per hour in posted 75 mph speed zone.
Deputies identified the operator of the vehicle as 30-year-old Teshawn D. Jackson of Alexandria, La.
During the traffic stop, deputies learned Jackson did not have a driver’s license and observed suspected marijuana in plain view in the vehicle.
Deputies also learned Jackson was wanted by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office on 3 outstanding warrants.
Jackson was placed under arrest.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies seized a small amount of suspected marijuana and a loaded Taurus 9mm semi-automatic handgun concealed in a sonic bag.
Jackson had prior felony drug convictions.
Teshawn D. Jackson, 30, of Alexandria was transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Speeding 100/75, No Drivers License, Careless Operation of a Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Felony and Possession of CDS I Marijuana.
A 10th Judicial District Court Judge set bond at $17500.00, however, Jackson has a hold placed on him by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy C. Dranguet made the arrest.
The seized narcotics will be submitted to the crime lab for narcotics analysis.
